It used to be named alchemy - there were the efforts to turn iron into gold. The primary purpose of the today's chemists is to study the processes which are happening on the molecular level and get known more about the processes occur between different matters. It is also quite necessary to determine the laws to have the possibility to create the required matters from other ones. Chemistry cooperates very closely with biology and physics.

This science is subdivided into inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry and lots of other more specific fields.
